Ketosis Urine Test Strips offer a straightforward and effective way to gauge your body’s state of ketosis. These strips detect ketones in your urine, signalling the shift from carbohydrate to fat metabolism. Ideal for those following low-carb diets like Atkins or managing diabetes, the test strips provide valuable insights into your body’s metabolic processes. With CE Marking and FDA Clearance, the product ensures accurate results in the privacy of your home. Each sealed foil pouch contains 2 strips capable of testing for both ketones and glucose, with a minimum 6-month shelf life. Stay informed about your body’s response to dietary changes or diabetes management with these easy-to-use test strips.
To help determine this, each strip also tests for glucose in your urine. If your urine is positive for both glucose and ketones, then you should consult your doctor.
You should also seek medical assistance if you have any of the below symptoms (all are signs of ketoacidosis) alongside a positive ketones result:
Yes, it can be. Usually, our body will turn the food we eat into sugar (glucose), and this is used for energy. But if you have diabetes, you may not have enough insulin for the sugar in your bloodstream to be used for fuel. As a result, the body will use fat instead and as the fat is broken down, ketones are produced. This is known as Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and can be very dangerous.
Most cases of diabetic ketoacidosis occur in people with type 1 diabetes, although it can also be a complication of type 2 diabetes.
A dangerous level of ketones in urine typically indicates a condition called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which can be life-threatening if left untreated. Generally, ketone levels above 3.0 mmol/L in urine are considered high and may require medical attention, especially for individuals with diabetes.
To read urine test strips for ketosis, simply dip the strip into a urine sample or pass the strip through the urine stream. After a few seconds, compare the colour change on the strip to the colour chart provided on the strip container. The colour corresponds to the concentration of ketones in the urine, indicating the level of ketosis.
To test for ketosis using urine test strips, collect a urine sample in a clean container. Dip the test strip into the urine sample or pass it through the urine stream for a few seconds. Remove the strip and shake off any excess urine. Wait for the specified time (usually a few seconds to a minute) for the colour change to occur. Then, compare the colour of the test pad to the colour chart provided on the strip container to determine the ketone level.
To use the ketone urine test strips, follow these simple steps:
