Like human pharmaceuticals, animal medicines are strictly regulated. All animal medicines are classified into one of four categories:
POM-V = Prescription Only Medicine – Veterinarian. This can only be prescribed by a veterinarian, but supplied by either a veterinarian or pharmacist.
POM-VPS = Prescription Only Medicine – Veterinarian, Pharmacist or Suitably Qualified Person (RQP). These products can only be prescribed and supplied by one of the Registered Qualified Persons listed.
NFA-VPS = Non Food Animal – Veterinarian, Pharmacist or Suitably Qualified Person (RQP). These products can be supplied by one of the Registered Qualified Persons listed.
AVM-GSL = Authorised Veterinary Medicine – General Sales List – These can be supplied by any retailer.
The retailer and premises where animal medicines are stored and supplied must be licensed annually with the VMD (Veterinary Medicines Directive) and these premises can only be registered if they have a qualified person working there, such as an RQP, Vet or Pharmacist. In addition, RQP’s are only qualified to prescribe and supply products for those animals which they are qualified for. Their category is shown as a initial in front of “RQP” such as E-RQP.
Home Health UK Ltd, is currently registering with the VMD, and verification of this can be found on the VMD’s Register of Approved Retailers.
The RQP responsible for all medicines is Dr Kurtis Graham, RCVS Registration No. 7276796
As a fully qualified Veterinary Surgeon he can prescribe and supply all of the following medicine categories;
If you would like to contact our Veterinary Surgeon please email us.
All NFA-VPS products will have a series of questions which must be completed before you will be allowed to place your order. On receipt of your order, our RQP will thoroughly check your answers to ensure the product is suitable for that species, the number of animals you are treating and your particular situation, before the order can be dispatched. In some cases our RQP may need to contact you, so please include a contact number and/or email address on your order.
We are happy to provide veterinary medicines to EU member states, providing that you complete the form at the time of ordering that states that there is no specific legislation against such imports in your part of the EU. We will also make our own checks to ensure that the product is authorised in your state. If the product is not approved, then the order cannot be fulfilled. As these products are animal medicines, there may be some regulations during transportation that mean that the products get stopped in transit. If this happens, full responsibility will be with you, the customer. We do everything we can to ensure that products reach you, but are unaware of each EU state’s restrictions and regulations fully, so it is essential that you make sure the product is permitted in your country. Please note that all our products are as pictured, with packets and usage instructions printed in English. Please ensure you understand all wording before administering the product to your animal.
All Veterinary Medicines can be found on the VMD product Information Database.
If you have any complaints about our site or a purchased product, please e-mail us at complaints@gjqdl.nimsite.uk, where your complaint will be dealt with fairly and efficiently. If your complaint has not been answered to your satisfaction, you can forward your complaint on to the VMD by email. If you complaint is regarding the Veterinary Surgeon then please click here.
