Glandular fever, also known as mono-mononucleosis, is a fever that typically affects teenagers and young adults. It causes patients to feel very ill very quickly and usually lasting a few weeks. Symptoms include; high temperatures, shivers, severe sore throat, swollen glands, exhaustion and tonsillitis.
Most patients will recover from glandular fever on their own with plenty of rest; however, a GP may conduct a glandular fever blood test to rule out any other possible causes.
